Our Services
Consultation
Maybe you feel your hearing has deteriorated recently?
One ear has clearer hearing than the other?
Your balance feels off?
Pressure in your ears or head?
These are just a few of the many questions that an Ears Of Axholme Consultation can provide the answers to.
-
During your consultation, we will thoroughly discuss any symptoms or issues you have been experiencing. We will examine both ears using an otoscope, inform you of any findings, and provide advice on potential remedial action.
If Microsuction is required after the consultation due to the identification of a wax build-up, this may be conducted on the day of the appointment. We may rebook for a later date. Depending on the case and your wider commitments.
Note: The price of the consultation will be deducted from the cost of the removal procedure.
Microsuction
In addition to the consultation process, microsuction is available for those who are aware of a wax build-up or are prone to the over-production of earwax.
-
Your appointment will begin with a consultation and examination to fully understand your symptoms and any issues you have been facing with your hearing. If a wax build-up is identified and microsuction is suitable for you, we will proceed with the removal procedure.
The procedure is completed using a specialist suction machine with a fine-ended tip, which is inserted into the ear canal. This machine can dislodge and remove the earwax in a safe, sanitary, and painless manner. There are no incisions or anaesthesia required.
Microsuction feels like cool air in your ear, some gentle movement as the blockage releases
Microsuction sounds like a sound similar to tuning an old radio.
Each ear and build-up is different, so we encourage you to make at least an hour available within your day. While all appointment types are likely to be far shorter than this, allowing time around your appointment helps to create a relaxed environment free of wider commitments.
The only requirement is that you can remain still throughout the procedure to maintain safety. As long as this can be done, microsuction is an enjoyable, satisfying, and liberating procedure that will instantly improve your quality of life and connect you closer to the world and people around you.
Post-procedure, we will reflect on your previous symptoms to ensure these are now relieved. Any relevant aftercare advice will be given before continuing your day in high fidelity!

How You Can Prepare For Your Appointment
-If you are under 18, ensure you have a legal parent or guardian in attendance for the duration of the appointment.
-You will be required to answer a number of questions regarding your hearing-related symptoms and wider health.
-Please ensure you have made 1 hour available around your appointment, regardless of the procedure necessary. While all appointments should take less than an hour, this helps to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, free from external commitments.
Olive Oil
-If you are aware of a wax blockage and have booked a removal procedure, it is highly beneficial to instil olive oil or Earol spray into the ear canal, before bedtime, in the days prior to your appointment.
3 drops, 3 times a day, for 3 days.
The properties of olive oil soften the earwax and make extraction quicker, easier, and more comfortable - avoiding the need for a potential secondary appointment.
Note: DO NOT use olive oil if you are aware of or suspect an eardrum perforation (tear or hole in the eardrum)
Please do not hesitate to CALL ahead of your appointment with any questions or queries you may have. Alternatively, visit our FAQs page.
