✺ Frequently asked questions ✺
-
No! Unlike many courses, we accept delegates from all backgrounds.
Earwax removal services are an unregulated practice and do not require a formal degree or qualification. No previous experience is needed.
However, it would prove very difficult and unsafe to attempt to provide these services without quality, accredited training such as our online course.
-
Within 2 days of purchasing our course online, you will receive a training mannequin and a few small gifts to get you started.
This mannequin is equipped with ears that replicate the anatomy and textures of a real human ear.
We supply an artificial wax substance to push into the ear canal to practice extraction techniques.
This equipment is included in the price of the course and is yours to keep. Shipping tracked for delivery within 2 days.
As you become more confident, you may choose to enlist the help of a friend or relative to gain valuable practice on real ears and understand the similarities and differences between them.
-
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be sent a certificate in the post from us. We will officially deem you safe to perform earwax removal services.
Earwax removal is an unregulated practice; you therefore cannot be ‘formally qualified’ like a degree, but can be endorsed and certified by other practitioners.
We are a registered CPD Provider; your certification is proof of your CPD hours awarded during your time on our course.
You will also have permission to use our brand name for endorsement purposes.
-
We provide an equipment checklist with examples using the kit that we personally use each day.
You will also be given exclusive access to discounts on customisable start-up packages from The Hearing Lab, capable of saving you hundreds of pounds.
We recommend a budget of around £500 to £2000 for equipment, depending on the budget.
The bulk of this cost will come from the eye loupes; however, we urge you to invest in these where possible, as this is your viewpoint into the patient’s ear and has to be of good quality for effective depth perception.
We personally use the Vorotek O-Scope, which is one of the best for aural microsuction (and our personal recommendation); however, we do appreciate the expense of this at £1620 incl VAT.
If you have any questions on specific equipment, The Hearing Lab team would be happy to assist.
-
As an industry, there is no regulating body for ear wax removal.
However, the largest governing body for learning and development, CPD, has certified our course, evidencing its value and substantial educational content.
We’d urge you to consider that with no previous experience, we have conceived and grown a successful earwax removal business that has replaced our full-time employment.
We know this industry and how to make it work for us. Now, we want to make it work for you.
-
Purchasing the course and completing its content does not necessarily guarantee our certification.
We will deem you safe to practice based on the results of an online examination and a video submission.
If we do not deem you safe, we will first advise you to go back and revise the course content.
Our course has been extensively tested with a wide range of test delegates. We are certain that if the content is followed fully and in the proper order, anyone can safely practice.
We also offer ongoing training packages to support you in your development, should you wish:
1-1 two-hour session at your home or clinic: FROM £150 (depending on location - UK mainland only)
30-minute voice or video call £25
